Africa Ministry Committee Update

The ministry work of the Africa Ministry Committee (AMC) in Africa has resumed since last September with the great help of God. AMC workers who have been to Africa have brought back some enlightening news – although the pandemic has ravaged practically every country, God’s preservation of His people is evident throughout the world, particularly in the church in the continent of Africa. In recent trips, many baptisms have been conducted, indicating that the church in Africa has not been slack in the work of evangelism. Members have been able to keep their faith in God, the truth and His church. Many churches in Africa do not have the luxury of attending services online. For some churches, their members could only gather in their own homes on the Sabbath when national lockdowns were imposed at the peak of the pandemic. However, their faith in God and His church remains as strong as ever.

Meanwhile, the spiritual attack from the evil one through the Shanghai breakaway group cannot be greater. This group has frequented themselves in East Africa the most. The churches in Malawi and Tanzania are the worst affected. However, God is indeed great and works mysteriously. He has kept a remnant for Himself in each country. Recently, God has raised up some faithful local servants from these countries to revive His churches and to look after the members.

In the recent IA meeting, four potential Kenyan deacon candidates have been approved by the IA for ordination. It is our hope that the church in Kenya will take on some more important roles, such as assisting in pastoral care and contributing to the work of evangelism in neighboring countries, including Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia.

Recently, the AMC has managed to contact quite a number of Chinese members scattered in different countries in Africa. This is quite clearly the work of God, to help evangelize to African countries the true gospel of salvation has not reached. The first evangelistic and pastoral consideration here is that the Chinese members in each African country must first be contacted and organized into groups, to help build up their faith. The second is to encourage them to facilitate platforms for the AMC to first reach out to their local employees (many of them run their own businesses, such as manufacturing and wholesaling).

We pray that God will provide opportunities for the AMC workers to preach the gospel to as many countries as He desires. We ask that the TJC in other parts of the world keep this important work in their prayers. Amen!
