RE Teachers Training in Cambodia

Report of the 3rd Cambodian Religious Education Teacher Training

The third Cambodian Religious Education Teacher Training was held at Phnom Penh Church from November 26 to 30, 2023. Looking back at the development of the True Jesus Church’s religious education in various countries around the world, we can see that our church attaches great importance to religious education and training. Teacher training is particularly important. The aim is to teach youth from all over the country who are interested in helping in religious education the importance of religious education, to understand the Christian life, to learn children’s hymns and teaching methods for Bible stories, and to train them to be teachers who can help shepherd the Lord’s lambs in their respective township or province.

This year, Phnom Penh religious education teachers held a meeting with full-time ministers to discuss several course topics. They came up with the following curriculum for the students’ spiritual cultivation and teaching skills development:

  1. Do not love the world / O. Tera (2 sessions)
  2. The Ten Basic Beliefs of the True Jesus Church / Saron (2 sessions)
  3. A Christian’s Marriage Life, The Secret of Marriage, Purity Before Marriage / O. Tera (2 sessions)
  4. Religious education textbook: E1 class, year 1, first quarter, God So Loved the World / Sis. Chhiv Sineth and Sis. Luo Saron
  5. Special topic for evening service during the teacher training: “How to Correct Children’s Tendency to Become Worldly” / Resident Preacher

During the seminar, there was laying on of hands during the daily prayer sessions, and a total of two believers received the Holy Spirit. After the training, the “Telegram”  group was established as a platform for sharing teaching resources and to facilitate communication among the religious education teachers. Finally, on the evening of November 30, the resident preacher gave encouragement and bestowed to the trainees the certificates of completion.
