The Lord’s Cords of Kindness and Love—Hong Kong Holy Work Update
Recently, Tai Po Church has had an increase in the number of believers attending Friday services; especially young believers have become more active. In addition, the church proactively trains the younger generation to take on ministry roles.
The total number of believers in Tsuen Wan Church is about 440, and many of them are believers from mainland China who have moved to Hong Kong. The church’s goal is to promote salvation for the whole family. The quarterly evangelistic services actively build the believers’ awareness of evangelism and enable them to focus on the growth of their inner being.
Hong Kong Church’s New Believers Class provides a platform for new believers and truth seekers to understand our faith and our church, and to build up their foundation of faith through relaxed communication and sharing.
Kowloon Church has been using fellowship activities to train service leaders and to establish care groups to enhance the sense of belonging within the church, while preparing workers to speak on the pulpit.
Some churches face problems such as decreased membership due to believers emigrating, low birth rate, and declining service attendance as well as a lack of workers for sermon speaking and other holy work. The churches are paying attention to these issues and seeking solutions through prayer.
One of the challenges of evangelism in Hong Kong is the local Christian community’s misconception of the True Jesus Church. Nevertheless, we still see the Lord’s guidance. During this spring evangelical convocation, a truth seeker who had been seriously ill experienced the power of God in the hospital. The Lord strengthened her faith, and although she had several tubes inserted into her body, she bravely left the hospital to receive baptism. There was a storm the night before her baptism, but the weather improved in the morning. This was truly God’s providence. In addition, a sister who is a nurse happened to be present to help treat her wounds after baptism and eventually the whole baptism went smoothly. Indeed, God’s kindness and love gradually lead us onward through the wind and rain.
Preaching is the Lord’s command. We shall continue tirelessly to teach our believers, train workers, and utilize all our wisdom to preach the complete gospel of the true church to the world. On this challenging journey, we long for the active participation of all churches and continuous support and assistance from the International Assembly. We firmly believe that, through the guidance of the Lord and the believers’ mutual support, the church’s gospel work will continue to advance and cause more lives to be transformed and renewed.
