Covid-19 Pandemic Update
India was badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic in the first half of the year 2021. The government restricted all movements and religious activities. All church services and RE classes were not able to be carried out during this period of time. Thank the Lord, even though physical services were not able to be conducted physically, the ICB preachers continued to deliver sermons via YouTube and WhatsApp video call.

IMC also conducted an online ministers spiritual nurture via Zoom. It was held for two days from the 27th to 28th in June 2021. There were more than 10 ministers who attended.

Recently, some ministers and members also took the initiative to assist in the distribution of rice to members affected by Covid-19.

During this period of time, there were members and ministers infected or even passed away because of this pandemic.

Out of love, there were members throughout the world who offered financial assistance to India. May our Lord remember their offering of love. During this period of time, we have given Covid-19 assistance to the members who are affected in the amount of approximately RM16000 (approx. INR300,000). The churches in India were also able to raise some money on their own, totaling RM2000 (approx. INR31,000).

The membership in India has increased from 1,613 members to 1,652 members this year, with growth rate of about 2.42%.

When the government of India relaxed its lockdown at one point in time, members also went to the streets distributing food and drink, all the while sharing the gospel with them.

IMC also held a joint meeting with the ICB exco members on the 20th of July. Among the items discussed was a situational report of the churches in India, as well as a work plan for the second half of the year 2021 and 2022.

For the second half of 2022, IMC also conducted the Preachers and Wives’ spiritual nurture on the 8th of August 2021 with Elder Joshua Phoong as the speaker. At the same time, Dn. Isaiah Phan and Dn. Elijah Chong who were assisting the youth ministry in IMC also conducted a national youth exco spiritual nurture on the 24th of October 2021. On the 12th of September 2021, the national online spiritual meeting (All-India) was held with the theme “Let not your heart be troubled”.

ICB Preachers and Wives Spiritual Nurture (8th August 2021).

For the year 2022, we will carry out various seminar and spiritual nurture sessions via Zoom. By the grace of God, we hope to be able to travel to India physically in the 2nd half of year 2022.
